What’s new in Voxden

Every release, newest first. Each version stays on GitHub with its installer attached.

Voxden 2.2.0

Voxden has a new look: one header with your sections in a navigation island, a Dictation page that puts today’s words beside your history, and a Polish page that uses the whole window. Push to talk is also fixed for the cases where it kept recording after you let go of the key.

What’s new

  • The sidebar and title bar are now one header. Dictation, Dictionary, Writing style, Polish and Insights sit in a navigation island in the middle, next to the cloud time you have left, or Go Pro on the free plan. Settings, Help, notifications and your account are at the right. As the window narrows, the island shortens its labels instead of overlapping anything.
  • The Dictation page is now a feed of your dictations, grouped by day, beside a panel with today’s words and the typing time they saved, your week and your voice profile. The day’s newest dictation leads with Copy and Polish on the card itself, plus Play when its recording is kept, and every card names the app and window the words went into. Search is always open and highlights what it finds. Your speaking pace, and the time saved over 7 days, 30 days or all time, are in Insights.
  • The Polish page spreads across the window: your balance and the price sit in a pill under the heading, and your recent dictations are one click away. Show changes now also marks words whose capital or punctuation changed, and a failed polish keeps its message on screen until you change the words.
  • Push to talk now stops when you let go of the key in two cases where it kept recording: when your PC was busy as you pressed the key, so a long hold looked like a quick tap, and when the key watcher restarted while you held it.
  • Scrolling through your dictations is smoother, typing in the search stays quick with a long history, and the Dictation page uses almost no processor while it sits open.
  • Security fixes: Restart as administrator no longer passes on the switches Voxden was started with, and the app’s pages refuse more kinds of injected content.

Voxden 2.1.11

Fewer stray full stops in cloud dictation: when Voxden Cloud splits a long dictation at a pause and puts a full stop where your sentence goes on, that full stop is now taken out. Voxden Cloud is also starting to send your words in a new way that keeps the wait after you stop short.

What’s new

  • When Voxden Cloud splits a long dictation at a pause, the speech model sometimes ends the first part with a full stop even though your sentence goes on. That full stop is now taken out when the next words clearly continue the sentence. Real sentence ends, questions, abbreviations and numbers keep theirs.
  • Voxden Cloud now transcribes most of your dictation while you talk and finishes the last words with a second, fast model the moment you stop, so the wait after you stop stays about a second. It is switching on gradually over the coming days; you don’t need to do anything.

Voxden 2.1.10

Voxden Cloud is much faster: your words usually appear a second or two after you stop, and a piece that gets stuck is asked again instead of failing the dictation. Voxden Cloud now covers 18 languages.

What’s new

  • Voxden Cloud uses a faster speech model, so your words usually appear a second or two after you stop. If it ever goes quiet, a second model answers instead. This already works in older versions too.
  • Voxden Cloud now covers 18 languages: English, Hindi and Hinglish, Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Vietnamese. Other languages, including Bengali, Tamil and Telugu, are no longer offered. If you had one selected, Voxden keeps the supported languages you chose, or switches you to English.
  • Long dictations go up in shorter pieces while you talk, so less is left to send when you stop.
  • If one piece of a dictation gets no answer, Voxden asks again once instead of failing the whole dictation. The bar shows “Cloud is slow. Trying again…” while it does.
  • A sentence that runs across two pieces no longer gets a stray capital letter in the middle, and names like “New York” keep theirs.
  • A word you start again at a pause, as in “f- for him”, is no longer glued into one broken word.
  • Security updates: Voxden now runs on Electron 43.7.11.

Voxden 2.1.9

Names and long words come through whole, and a word you break off and start again is left out. Voxden Cloud now listens for up to 100 words from your dictionary.

What’s new

  • Voxden Cloud no longer cuts a word in two when it sends a long dictation in pieces. Pieces are longer and split at a real pause, so a name you slow down on, like “Higgs... field”, arrives as one word, and the model hears enough of each sentence to spell names right. Short dictations go up in one piece.
  • If a cloud piece still ends partway through a word, Voxden joins it to the rest of the word in the next piece.
  • Your microphone audio is cleaner, so “s” and “f” sounds come through more clearly.
  • Local dictation splits a long recording in a gap between words, not in the middle of one.
  • Voxden keeps the cloud model ready for as long as you are speaking, so the last words of a long dictation come back without a slow start.
  • A word you break off and start again, as in “I am check- checking it”, now leaves only the finished words: “I am checking it”. Verbatim mode still keeps everything you said.
  • Voxden Cloud now listens for up to 100 words from your dictionary instead of 30. This already works in older versions too.
  • Editing a transcript no longer suggests a dictionary rule that would replace an everyday word, like “there” or “people”, in every later dictation.
  • If you read aloud for a long time with only short pauses, Voxden Cloud still sends your words in pieces as you go, so a very long dictation no longer fails at the end.
  • On a Mac, a shortcut you record with the Control key now uses Control, not Command. A shortcut with a key a Mac keyboard lacks, such as Insert, is refused instead of firing on Cmd+Shift alone, and the “Mute other audio” switch, which only works on Windows, is hidden.
  • Security updates: Voxden now runs on Electron 43.7.9, and it starts Windows PowerShell from its system folder only.

Voxden 2.1.8

Fixes for the Windows taskbar, games and fullscreen apps. The game shortcut now starts off: turn it on in Settings, under Shortcuts.

What’s new

  • Taskbar popups, such as the list of an app’s open windows, stay open again while Voxden is running. In 2.1.7 they could close as soon as they opened.
  • While the game shortcut is off, its key works normally in your other apps. If you used it in 2.1.7, turn it on again.
  • Dictating into a game keeps you in the game: Voxden no longer opens its window over it, and Escape and mouse clicks go to the game.
  • The flow bar steps aside for a fullscreen app only when the app is on the bar’s screen, and it waits a moment before coming back, so it no longer slides in and out. The Start menu and other Windows popups leave it where it is.
  • If a fullscreen game or film is in front when your words are ready, Voxden no longer pulls another window over it. Your words wait on the clipboard, and the flow bar asks you to press Ctrl+V.
  • A single-key shortcut, such as F8, no longer fires when you press it with Shift, Ctrl, Alt or Windows, so Shift+F8 in an editor stays the editor’s. In a fullscreen game it still works while you hold a key like sprint.
  • Voxden no longer notes every app that runs as administrator, such as Task Manager or the Windows sign-in prompt. It tells you when it cannot paste into one, or when a fullscreen game runs as administrator, and the older notes are cleared.

Voxden 2.1.7

Faster dictation, more reliable pasting and refreshed sounds.

What’s new

  • Dictation starts sooner, short sentences spend less time processing, and longer Voxden Cloud recordings transcribe in parallel while keeping words in order.
  • Windows pasting handles held shortcut keys and temporary focus failures more reliably. If a paste fails, your words stay in History.
  • New, slightly louder Soft Glass sounds make starting, finishing and failed dictations easier to hear. The launch chime waits for audio to be ready.
  • A dedicated game dictation shortcut lets you dictate without pulling focus away from your game. You can also use a function key on its own as a shortcut.
  • Dictate directly into Voxden’s text fields. Windows users can restart Voxden as administrator from Settings when another app requires it.
  • Improved macOS startup, theme saving and bundled speech-engine reliability, plus updated build dependencies.

Voxden 2.1.6

Voxden 2.1.6 brings Polish: turn a rough dictation into clean writing, right where you pasted it.

  • Polish is here for Voxden Pro. After a dictation, a gold Polish button on the flow bar rewrites the words you just dictated and pastes the clean version over them. If Voxden cannot be sure it has the right words selected, the polished text goes to your clipboard instead. It costs 0.25 cloud credits per 100 words, shown before anything is sent.
  • The new Polish page works on anything you type or paste, or on a recent dictation, in three modes at the same price: Polish rewrites for flow, Grammar fixes only what is wrong and keeps your words, and Tighten says it in fewer words. It shows what changed, and it keeps your own corrections: “1.0.15, yeah, 16” becomes 1.0.16.
  • Writing styles no longer change your words. A tone sets capitals and punctuation only: Formal capitalises every sentence and ends with a full stop, Casual keeps the speech engine’s punctuation, and Very casual starts sentences in lower case. Filler is um, uh and hmm, and “you know” when it is set off by commas. Words you repeat on purpose, like “very, very”, stay.
  • New installs start dictation with Ctrl+Win. If you already use Voxden, your shortcut does not change, and Help now shows the one you use.
  • A dictation now pastes whatever you had copied, unless it is files. Before, some copied content, such as text copied in VS Code or Cursor, made the paste fail and left the words in your history.
  • The start sound plays again after a quiet spell when Mute music while dictating is on.
  • Settings no longer blink back to their defaults after Check for updates.
  • “p.m.” and “e.g.” are no longer split apart, and editing a dictation in your history no longer suggests the writing style’s own changes as dictionary corrections.
  • Voxden now runs on Electron 43, with current Chromium security fixes, and its windows are sandboxed.
  • Deleting your account cancels a Pro subscription first, so you are not charged again.

Installing on Windows

Voxden is not yet code-signed, so Windows shows a blue “Windows protected your PC” screen whenever you run the installer by hand. Click More info, then Run anyway. It is a Microsoft SmartScreen notice about an installer it has not seen before, not a virus report.

Voxden 2.1.5

Voxden 2.1.5 brings a new logo, a new flow bar and a redesigned dashboard, and a dictation that fails no longer takes your voice with it.

  • Voxden has a new logo. The new V is on the taskbar, the tray, the installer and the title bar.
  • Island is the new flow bar, and the default: one black capsule that rests as a small pill and opens on hover into settings, the microphone and screenshot capture. Drag the bar itself to move it. Classic and Ribbon are retired and switch to Island, and Orb stays in Settings → Display.
  • The Dictation page puts your recent dictations first. Beside them sit a week card with your words for each day, your voice profile as a ring, and your speaking pace. Search is a round button, and Ctrl+F opens it on Dictation and Dictionary.
  • The rest of the dashboard has a look of its own in both themes. Milestones on Insights sit on a bookshelf, the Writing style preferences are one list, and the Dictionary shows a learned correction in action. The White theme keeps the dark title bar and sidebar, and cloud credits read as time left.
  • Help → Feedback or bug report is redesigned: choose the kind of message, see the app details that go with it, and send.
  • The window opens at 1200 × 780, the size the dashboard is designed for, or smaller on a smaller screen.
  • A dictation that fails to become text keeps its recording. It waits on the Dictation page under Not transcribed for 14 days, and Recover turns it into text with the speech engine you use now.
  • That covers a recording Voxden heard as silence, one made before a speech engine was set up, and a dictation cut off by a crash or a power cut: recordings longer than five seconds are saved as you talk and come back the next time Voxden starts. Recovered words go to your history and your clipboard. All of it follows Keep recordings in Settings → Data and privacy, which is on unless you turned it off.
  • When Voxden Cloud is too busy to answer, your dictation is transcribed by the speech model on your PC instead of failing, if you have one installed. The flow bar says “Cloud busy. Using this PC…” while it switches.

Voxden 2.1.4

Voxden 2.1.4 puts Voxden Pro on sale outside India.

  • Voxden Pro is now $8 a month everywhere outside India, charged through Razorpay by international card. Plans and billing shows the price for the region your account was first signed in from, and Pro is the same everywhere: no weekly word limit, Voxden Cloud, 900 cloud credits a month with 1,200 in your first month. Cancel renewal any time from Plans and billing, and Pro keeps working to the end of the period you have paid for.
  • In the EU, the UK, Monaco and the Isle of Man, Pro is not sold yet. The Free plan is complete and unrestricted there, as everywhere.
  • India is unchanged: ₹349 a month, with UPI, cards and net banking.
  • Corrections you make right after a dictation are learned more reliably in apps that give their text fields no name of their own.

Voxden 2.1.3

Voxden 2.1.3 is the release that gives Voxden an account, and with it Voxden Cloud and Voxden Pro. Everything that made Voxden work offline still works offline, on the same PC, for nothing.

  • Sign in once, with Google or a six-digit code sent to your email. Your plan follows the account, so Pro works on every Windows PC you sign in on. Your dictation, your history and your dictionary still live on your own PC.
  • Voxden Cloud comes with Pro. A cloud speech model handles names, accents and noisy rooms far better than one running on your own PC, understands 60 languages, needs no speech model downloaded, and lets you dictate in up to three languages at once.
  • Hindi is written in Devanagari, or choose Hinglish and it is written in the Latin script most people actually type in.
  • Voxden Pro is ₹349 a month in India, charged through Razorpay, with UPI, cards and net banking. It removes the weekly word limit on your PC and includes 900 cloud credits a month, about 15 hours of cloud dictation. Your first month carries 1,200 credits instead, about 20 hours. Cancel renewal any time from Plans and billing inside the app, and Pro keeps working to the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • Outside India, Pro is not on sale yet. The Free plan is complete and unrestricted everywhere, and pricing for the rest of the world follows shortly.
  • Free stays as it was: dictation on your own PC, 3,000 words a week, your personal dictionary, and no card at any point.
  • Help → Feedback or bug report sends a message straight to the person who writes Voxden, with the app version and engine attached if you leave that box ticked.
  • A first-run walkthrough explains the blue Windows warning on the installer and gets you dictating without a manual.
  • Choose White or the original Voxden theme in Settings → Display. Your choice is saved, switches immediately and leaves the floating dictation bar in its chosen style. Pro and Voxden Cloud accents stay gold in both themes.
  • General and System settings are easier to scan. Display now holds app themes, flow bar styles and motion preferences, while microphone, languages and dictation controls stay together in General.
  • The dictation dashboard has floating app icons, clearer speaking pace and time saved, and a steady voice profile card. Icons keep moving smoothly during sidebar resizing, and opening Settings dims the whole workspace in both themes.
  • Longer cloud dictations recover from interrupted segments more reliably. Segment boundaries preserve complete words, and failed transcriptions keep the recording available for retry.
  • Help → What’s new opens the changelog on voxden.app.

Voxden 2.1.2

Voxden 2.1.2 keeps dictation history lighter and the flow bar clickable after your screen sleeps or another window covers it.

  • Older dictation history now clears automatically to keep Voxden lighter. Your dictation totals, Insights, dictionary, automatic learning and saved training data stay intact.
  • The flow bar keeps taking clicks and drags after your display sleeps, after a full-screen app or another window covers it, and after Windows minimizes and restores it. It used to look normal and open on hover while ignoring every click until a restart.
